kronehit Goes PURE with Launch of Super 80s on DAB+, new Classic Hits Jingle Package

Last week, PURE Jingles presented the new SLAM! package, and now they’re going Classic Hits!

kronehit, Austria’s leading commercial radio station, has expanded its digital footprint with the launch of Super 80s, one of their four new stations now available nationwide on DAB+.

kronehit was looking for a sound that balances nostalgia and modernity, ensuring Super 80s stands out in today’s digital radio landscape, which includes 58 stations in Austria on DAB+ alone.

Targeting listeners aged 35-54, Super 80s features a music mix focused on pop, rhythmic pop, and rock hits from the 1980s. Core tracks include timeless classics such as a-ha’s “Take on Me,” David Bowie’s “Modern Love,” Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” and Van Halen’s “Jump.” To complement the station’s energetic and nostalgic vibe, a custom jingle package was developed.

Fresh and Modern Sound

Dani Linzer, program director for kronehit’s DAB+ stations, remarked, “We aimed to create a station that resonates with fans of 80s music but also feels fresh and current. Collaborating with PURE Jingles has resulted in a sound that perfectly balances nostalgia and modernity, ensuring Super 80s stands out in today’s digital radio landscape. With 28 new stations launching this year, Austria will soon have a total of 58 DAB+ programs.”

Thomas Giger, branding consultant at PURE Jingles, added, “Working closely with Thomas Wollert and Alexander Gruber from the client’s team, we aimed for a modern feel by creating lively, ‘bouncy’ compositions. Instead of using ‘big choir’ vocals, we opted for powerful, solo-based vocals with crunchy voice processing. The result makes the station sound contemporary and vibrant.”
